Madeira — The Island in Between
Beyond the Valley
Ribeiro Frio, Madeira
Somewhere in the mountains of Madeira, the landscape disappears into layers of mist. Steep ridges rise above the valley, while clouds drift slowly between them, revealing only fragments of what lies beyond. A quiet moment in a place that feels untouched by time.

The story behind the photograph
"We'd been walking for hours under cloud when it suddenly lifted. For maybe ten minutes the whole valley opened up, all the way down to the sea. We stood there without saying much. By the time we turned back, the cloud had closed in again."
